Writhlington is hosting the 25th British Orchid Congress in October 2012. Needless to say, we’re all very excited, and work is starting already to make turn our school into a first class congress venue. It’s going to be a good one!
If you want to attend, be sure to keep a watch on the BOC pages on the website at http://wsbeorchids.org.uk/boc.
You’ll be able to register for the event and receive a discount price from mid October this year – details available twitter.

Yep, that’s right, the second annual Writhlington Autumn Orchid Festival is a mere two weeks away! We’re all getting excited, walking the school corridors with clipboards, planning where each trade stand and each display will go!
As with last year, there will be lectures throughout the day in the Theatre, as well as tea and those all important sales in the Orchid Café! We’ve got Displays as part of the Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset Orchid Society Show with Burnham Nurseries among the traders at this year’s show. It’s also, of course, a great chance for you to have a look around the greenhouses and talk to the enthusiastic students.
So – we hope to see you there! £2 entry, at Writhlington School.

I only popped into school today to do some tidying, but this caught my eye: Our sign has arrived! As you can see, it stands tall and in pride of place next to the glasshouses. We also have signs across the rest of the campus, directing people to ‘The Orchid Project’, meaning people getting lost while looking for us at open days should be a thing of the past!

Our new sign!

The greenhouse is quiet this week with all the students on holiday. You might see a few people though as the greenhouse doesn’t stop for the school holidays. Watch it progress over the holiday just like we are.
