You may remember the Young Enterprise company BonkYE, who developed and sold our book: “The Dos and Don’ts of Orchid Growing.” The book was quite a hit, but since the Young Enterprise company closed down, we’ve been pretty bad at advertising it and also at dispatching the orders that do come through!

The Dos and Don’ts of Orchid Growing was reviewed by the RHS Orchid Review:
“I’d like to grow an orchid but they’re difficult and I’m afraid I’ll kill it”. Most orchid-growers will have heard a similar remark at some time. This little book is aimed at people who look at orchids in a supermarket or garden centre and think about buying one – or perhaps do buy one, then worry about how to look after it. What to do is simply described on the right hand pages, what not to do is illustrated by a cartoon on the facing page.
I am sure that all readers of The Orchid Review will know these basic rules, but if you have a friend who dithers about growing orchids – or grows them and kills them – give them a copy of this book. At only £3.99, it is an easy and unfrightening introduction and who knows where that might lead?
The pupils of Writhlington School are already well known for their expertise in growing, displaying and propagating orchids. They are to be congratulated on this further example of their enterprise.

The Authors
The Dos and Don’t of Orchid Growing is written by the orchid project’s Luke Shackleton and Luke Barnes, both top growers, both with a sense of humour!
The Illustrator
Artist Eleanor Jones is not only responsible for the purple Phalaenopsis seen on the front cover, but for each and every drawing of a differently tortured plant throughout the book. The illustrations show the “Don’ts” in the Dos and Don’ts of Orchid Growing.
