Writhlington School to host 25th British Orchid Congress

The 25th British Orchid Congress will take place from 26th-28th October 2012 at Writhlington School, near Bath.

Simon Pugh-Jones who runs the school’s orchid project explained “We are really excited to be hosting the next BOC Congress. Writhlington has opened new facilities over the past twelve months including a post-16 education centre and a 400-seat theatre that make it an ideal conference-style venue for a major event.”

A full programme is planned for registrants including a three-day orchid show, lectures, evening events, a one-day scientific symposium, and workshops in the school’s unique orchid micropropagation laboratory and greenhouse complex.

The scientific symposium is a new and exciting addition to a BOC and will be held under the auspices of Orchid Conservation International. The symposium will focus on giving opportunities to early career students and other scientists to present their orchid-related research, along with more established scientific speakers.

More details and registration forms will be found on Writhlington’s Orchid Project website www.wsbeorchids.org.uk, or through the British Orchid Council website www.british-orchid-council.info/. Those interested in presenting in the scientific symposium should check back for more information which will be available soon.
