1 Comments - Silver Gilt

By Luke Barnes | March 22, 2009

In case you hasn’t guesed by the title of this post, we won a silver gilt! We’re very pleased about this as we thought our plants were only silver medal standard, and in places the moss on the display was not up to our usual standard.

We also had a record breaking saturday of sales meaning that we can eat in Sikkim! We celebrated last night with a pizza at ‘Frankie and Benny’s’ on Trafalgar Square and it was very nice indeed!

We’re all looking forward to a nice, profitable sunday, followed by getting back home after a great weekend. The brilliant news is that monday is an inset day for us, meaning that we can lie in monday morning as long as we like!

This is my 6th year involved with the project and now run the Micropropagation Lab and administer the website. I've been to Sikkim, in the Himalayas and also to the Cape Town flower show and am looking forward to going to Laos later this year. My favourite orchid probably has to be Coelogyne cristata.

Congratulations on your silver-gilt, you certainly deserved it! Of all the exhibitors we found you the most helpful, It sounds as if you had a good time in London and we hope that your Sunday was as good as your Saturday. I have e-mailed you about the flask I bought because the name was rendered unreadable due to liquid seeping onto the lable but I think I have IDd it as Aerides Houlettiana, I have just potted it up but now I need to know how much water to give it and if I need to feed it.

Best wishes with the rest of your projects
